DON'T BE TARDY FOR THE PARTY!

The Real Housewives of Atlanta is an addiction.  The most popular installment from Bravo's "Real Housewives of..." franchise has given us a second season that is pure FIRE!  Kandi Buruss, formerly of 90's girl group, 'Xcape' has joined the cast and produced a hit song for Housewife Kim Zolciak.  'Don't Be Tardy for the Party' is now Atlanta's new anthem. See and hear the song below... {not sure if this is the official video, but enjoy}!

If your just getting on board, your too little, too late. The Season Two Season Finale episode airs tonight on Bravo at 10 pm!! It's a guilty pleasure, and I hate to admit it, but I LOVE THIS SHOW!!

LA VS. LA

Downtown LA. was my second home this weekend!
On Saturday, a fashion fete at FIDM, while Sunday was all about Lakers vs. Clippers action at the Staples Center.
{Yes, girly-girls love basketball too}!

We watched from courtside as the Clippers kept a 10 point lead for more than half the game.  Lakers came through in the 4th quarter (or wait...was it the 3rd?), and swept in with a lead which resulted in a 114-105 Lakers win!

Spotted:

  • The Usual Lakers Suspects (including newlywed Lamar Odom, sans Khloe. He didn't play. Perhaps he is still on his honeymoon?)
  • The Usual Clippers Suspects (including Marcus Camby whom I grew up with back in Connecticut.  He didn't play though-perhaps due to that injury situation?)
  • Jack. Black, not Nicholson (who was very visibly absent).
  • Phil Jackson, still in effect.

What I Wore:
  • Navy American Apparel turtleneck dress {worn as a t-neck tunic with navy sash}
  • Lt. blue Diesel Jeans {with fringed cuffs except you couldn't see - they were tucked into my boots!}
  • Navy leather Versace stiletto boots {which have a stonewashed look-had them forever and still LOVE 'em!}
{Only in LA do we get the thrill of being able to watch two major NBA teams from our very own city go head-to-head!}.

THE MAGIC OF MAXWELL

Where were YOU on Friday night {10/16/09}???
The Hollywood Bowl was the place to be!

Chrisette Michelle, Common, and Maxwell all graced us with their presence.  The sky was clear, the temperature just right {75-80°}, crowd was gorgeous, and the music was so sweet - what a beautiful night!  The view from the front row was unsurpassed {our seats came with their very own security detail to add!}.  Common flirted with my PIC {partner-in-crime} and I throughout his entire performance, and even summoned her up to the stage to romance & plant a kiss on her! Of course this was captured on the jumbo-tron, making her an honorary "star" of the show! Cute!

Common definitely deserves a style award. His fashion game was certainly on point - he's got a smooth Chicago street meets chic flavor going on & was rocking fresh jeans, a crew-neck sweater, with a shirt & tie underneath - all perfectly complementing his baldness.  How handsome! {I think Serena W. knows it too. She was only 1 step behind him at the after-party!}

Common had the crowd on it's feet with hits: 'The Light' {my fave Common song} & 'Universal Mind Control' and even featured singer Bilal during his set, who sang that smooth & sexy 'Soul Sister' cut from back in the day!

Maxwell shut it down with 'This Woman's Work', 'Possum Playing' & 'Pretty Wings' {among many other incredible songs}.  The Bowl is now at the top of my "Favorite Venues" list!

So much fun. Photos to come...

FARRAH RESTS

Farrah Leni Fawcett
February 2, 1947 - June 25, 2009

June 25, 2009 - a day of major loss.
The golden-haired classic beauty, Farrah Fawcett, 62, has passed away after a 3-year battle with cancer that was diagnosed in 2006.

Originally from Texas, she rose to popularity as one of "Charlie's Angels", and is still considered a 1970's poster child of sexy and a fashion icon. She left behind a great love, Ryan O'Neal and a son, Redmond O'Neal.

I will always remember her as the epitome of 70's sun-kissed style, and will always love that feathered "Farrah Fawcett" hair. She will be missed. Rest in peace, Farrah.

MICHAEL JACKSON FOREVER...

It's all over the news and the internet. We have lost an icon.
Michael Jackson, 50, has died in Los Angeles today. This is unimaginable.
I am stunned, saddened, and overwhelmed by this news.

At age 6 or 7 years old (or something like that), I lost a tooth and was instructed to leave it under my pillow for the tooth fairy. The Tooth Fairy must've forgotten to do the deed sometime in the dark of the night, so right around the crack of dawn, she tiptoed into my room, and slid her hand underneath my pillow. This warm gesture awakened me, but I remained still so as not to disturb the process. The Tooth Fairy had done the most amazing thing... she left me Michael Jackson's "Off The Wall" cassette tape!! That Tooth Fairy made a major impact on my life from that day. She helped me to discover my love for one of the greatest entertainers on the planet. Michael Jackson. Thanks, Mom.

He will be forever missed and forever in my heart. Rest in peace, Michael.

DID YOU DO YOUR HOMEWORK?

Saw this deeply moving and thought-provoking one-man-show at The Beverly Hills Playhouse this weekend. "Did You Do Your Homework?" written by & starring, Aaron Braxton. Directed by Kathleen Rubin.

"DYDYH?" paints a vivid & jarring portrait of the modern day, urban educational landscape as seen through the eyes of a substitute teacher in Los Angeles. Every one of us needs to see this. It's an eye-opener, and we look forward to seeing this important piece translated to Broadway, television and film!!

If and when in LA, you must see it.

Where:

Beverly Hills, CA. 90211

Cute Baby Shower Alert!

White waiting at the DMV, doing my daily mining of the web on my Pinkberry (the cell phone, not the yogurt), I randomly stumbled across these really cute photos of Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou's Baby Shower for what appears to be a little baby boy on the way... this is precious! OK! Magazine covered the shower, held at Kimora's Los Angeles home, where over 50 guests were in attendance including Stevie Wonder & his wife Kai, Tyra Banks' mommy Carolyn, celebrated artist, Artis Lane (whom I've had the pleasure of meeting when she was honored at CAAM in 2007-sweet lady), Holly Robinson-Peete, and others!

I'm all about love, family, and happiness (and these are very happy pictures)!
They make a beautiful family, don't they! Congratulations (you go, Kimora)!

PS - UPDATE: On Saturday, May 30th 2009, Kimora & Djimon welcomed baby boy Kenzo Lee Hounsou into the world!

The Buzz Girls

The Buzz Girls decended upon the dazzling Guess by Marciano boutique at The Grove in Los Angeles this Tuesday for mixing, mingling, shopping, & of course, BUZZING in association with C Magazine!!

What an ingenious concept! One part fabulous, stylish female entertainment & lifestyle executives (from just about every arm of the industry), one part exciting LA locations & venues (restaurants, spas, boutiques, motion picture studios, etc.), and add in one part coveted products, services, gifts and the like, and you have The Buzz Girls!

At a series of private, invitation-only events, products are placed in the well-manicured hands of tastemakers and style-influencers who are not only able to give valuable feedback to the partnering brands, but they are ALSO able to get the word out in a MAJOR way to the movers and shakers in the entertainment world - ultimately paving the way for these products to land in films, television, magazine pages, on red carpets and in all the right places!

How Brilliant! You never know where they'll be next!

RUDY GETS A REALITY SHOW

Little Rudy from The Cosby Show -aka- Keisha Knight Pulliam, has landed a reality show deal with the Oxygen network! The show will center around her life in Atlanta with her live-in-love, entrepreneur Kaseem Penn, and will show how they balance being young, rich & single.

After her Cosby Show life, she went off the radar for many years (I assume to have a real childhood & actually grow up), then later resurfaced in music videos, the film Beauty Shop, and in Madea Goes to Jail by Tyler Perry. This new show could be a really good look for Rudy (is it still ok to call her that?). I'm happy for her!

Click here to see that famous episode of The Cosby Show, when Rudy sings "Baby, Baby, Baby..." with the family (from the Ray Charles song, 'Night Time is the Right Time')! This is still hilarious and adorable all at the same time!! She's come a long way since then!
