For the month of September, The Roni Report did a complete "fade-to-black". Although I pretty much went under-the-radar to spend time with family and deal with this new change life has brought about, I did come up for air from time-to-time for a peek at what was going on in the world.
In a tribute to the month of September, I will re-cap some of my favorite moments from New York Fashion Week (and other September happenings), in the days to come.

IN MOURNING...
After spending the past month in mourning following an earth-shattering family tragedy, I am back. A major loss occurred and left myself and my family completely shook. Although the pain has not passed, I've decided that it is time to pick up the pieces, and return to life - albeit, a life colored in a completely different hue. Things will never be the same.

Supermodel Cindy Crawford, Top Chef's Padma Lakshmi, Actress Sharon Leal, Talk Show Host Chelsea Handler & Actress Eliza Dushku took it all off for Allure Magazine's May 2009 issue (and they look fantastic)!! Manic Monday thru Sundays
Remember the song, Manic Monday by The Bangles, circa 1986??

Well, sometimes life in the big city can seem like a never-ending Manic Monday. Almost like a Groundhog Day of some sorts. Things get hectic, vision gets cloudy and it can seem like your going in circles. When that happens, it is ok to go on Sabbatical from it all! Some of us also call it hibernating. Either way, this is something that some of us need to do every so often.
Allow yourself some time to take a step back, take inventory of things, rejuvenate yourself, re-establish your goals, re-invent, and re-emerge! Feed your mind, body & soul. Read books, listen to relaxing music, take baths, long walks, vacations, skip some of the phone conversations and really just focus on YOU.
This my friends, is what I have spent the last 6 months doing. Now, it's springtime and just as the weather is changing & the flowers blooming, it is time for a newly renewed, relaxed and refreshed me to emerge. The big city is looking beautiful again!

PEACE BE WITH YOU, KANYE
Dr. Donda West, mother of rapper Kanye West, has passed on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at age 58. News reports link her death to plastic surgery procedures, however the cause of death remains unconfirmed. This news really touches my heart in more ways than one, and I send my deepest condolences out to Kanye and the West family in their time of sorrow.
Although I did not know her personally, I had a sincere admiration for Ms. West, who raised her son as a single mother (there is a soft spot deep in my heart for single mom's). Not that I have always agreed with everything Kanye has ever said or done, but through the right that we all have to agree to disagree, one could always see the quality and care with which he was raised. The confidence and creativity he walks with can only be cultivated and nurtured by supportive parents with a strong vision of the bigger picture in life. It was apparent that Ms. West possesed those virtues, and the closeness she shared with her only child was undeniable.
Losing your mother at such a young age has to be one of the most devastating blows a person could experience in life. I truly hope that Kanye is able to find strength during this time of indescribable grief.
